Note on copyright years
Instructions: Let each story carry its own small marker in time. For new stories you publish, normally use the format “© Mildred Michelle Barlow-Espree, [current year]. All rights reserved.” and gently update the year as the seasons turn. For older stories, you may instead honor their beginnings by using the original year of creation or publication, for example “© Mildred Michelle Barlow-Espree, 2017. All rights reserved.”
How to add a new story
These quiet notes are for the site owner, a behind-the-scenes guide that sits just outside the circle of the stories themselves.
- In the editor, choose one of the example story sections above—its title, story text, and copyright line together—and gently duplicate it to make room for a new tale.
- Change the Heading 2 text to the new story title, then edit the heading’s anchor/ID so it matches the new name (for example, change
story-title-4to a kindred ID likemy-new-story). - Replace the placeholder story text with the full story you are ready to share, letting the words settle into their new home.
- Update the copyright line so it always reads exactly: “© Mildred Michelle Barlow-Espree, [year]. All rights reserved.” For new stories, normally use the current year. For older stories, you may instead keep faith with their beginnings by using the original year of creation/publication.
- Return to the “Story Titles” list at the top of the page, add a new list item with the new story title, and set its link to point to the new heading’s anchor/ID (for example,
#my-new-story), so readers can step directly into the story they choose.
